Emergency order issued
Prior to March 13, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decided to keep these planes in the air, despite the recent crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia which claimed 346 lives. However, a recent emergency order grounded the 737 Max.
Alleged issues with the planes involved in both crashes potentially included problems related to the flight control system. There may also be some question about the accuracy of the flight instruments.
Various countries grounded the aircraft
With roughly 5,000 planes on order, the 737 Max is Boeing’s top-selling jet in history. However, considering the recent crashes involving the aircraft, at least 30 of the 59 air operators with the new 737 have grounded the jet.
Prior to grounding the aircraft in the United States, the plane was grounded in:
- China
- Indonesia
- Australia
- Singapore
- Canada
- United Arab Emirates (UAE)
- The European Union
Grounding the planes will likely affect plans for countless people with upcoming flights.
